A 45โ€‘yearโ€‘old man from Richmond, Virginia, was arrested on Monday after police discovered a handwritten list in his home that marked the exact days he believed his wife should die. The list, found during a search of the coupleโ€™s house, included dates ranging from January 12 to March 3, 2024. Authorities say the man told investigators that the end of his marriage was โ€œtoo much to bearโ€ and that he had been planning to kill his wife for weeks.

The couple had been living separately since midโ€‘2023 after a longโ€‘standing marriage that ended in divorce proceedings. The husband had a prior record of domesticโ€‘violence complaints, including a restraining order issued in 2022.
